Choosing the "right photographer" for your wedding is one of the most exciting and important things when planning your wedding. Each photographer has their preferred style, from casual

and natural, to high-end posed wedding images.

So how do you choose the perfect photographer for you?

Here are 10 tips to help you make the right decision for your big day:

  • Find your style:

Each photographer will have their unique style. Have a look around at different photographers in your area, flip through some wedding magazines and images online to find a style that suits you. Compare a range of photographers to make an informed decision. Decide What Photography Style suits you best. Bright & Light VS Moody & Atmospheric are very popular at the moment. My style is bright & modern documentary with hint of traditions.

  • Work out how important quality images are for you:

You can’t redo your wedding day. If your wedding photos are something you feel you can’t live without, set a realistic budget to match it. Great photographers are pretty busy most of the time but they provide only great expierience and quality images. Wedding photography isn’t just about a few stunning photos, it is about a beautiful story you will treasure forever.

  • Meet with the photographer before deciding:

You’ll be spending A LOT of time with your photographer on the day so it’s important that you feel comfortable. Meeting with your photographer beforehand will give you an indication of how comfortable you’ll feel around them on the day. Personality of your photographer are very important fit in well with the vibe of your day. Engagement session or pre wedding is great idea to meet your photographer and see him/her in actions.

  • Let them know what you want before you book:

Make sure your photographer can capture the images and style you want. It’s difficult to emulate another photographer’s style so don’t ask a candid, natural photographer to take high-end, glamorously photos and vice versa. End of the day you need someone to rely on all day not to be worried about any missing photos.

What are their ideas for your big day? They might come up with something amazing that gets you excited for the big day. Will they be using lighting? How do they set up for a great shot? If credentials are important to you, this would be the time to ask to see them.

  • Go with your gut:

At the end of the day, it’s your wedding and your images are a personal choice. So, take a few days and talk it through with your partner. Don’t settle for a photographer you don’t want. Personality of your photographer are very important to choose someone to fit in well with the vibe of your day.

  • Find out the facts:

What is the cost and what is included in your wedding package? Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Some photographers only offer digital photos, while others might offer range of physical albums. Is there one shooter or two? Are there additional prices for extras? The last thing you want is a miscommunication that leaves you feeling disappointed with your images.

  • Ask to view their full gallery:

Like all artists, photographers will place their best work front and centre. Having a look through their full gallery will give you a better idea of their style and quality of images.

This is a must! Do a little snooping and check out what previous clients have said about your photographer. Check out Google reviews and their social media comments. If you can’t find any reviews, ask the photographer if you can contact some of their previous clients. Doing this will also give you an insight into their creative process. Find someone who has the same kind of energy as you.

  • Book early:

Great photographers book out FAST. The moment you decide on your photographer, book them so you don’t miss out.
